The School Newspaper is a video and lesson plan to investigate the maths involved behind publishing a school newspaper. There are three areas of focus for the child:

• To help children to make decisions about what calculations are needed in solving problems
• To help children to recognise the need to be precise in some calculations and approximate in others
• To offer opportunities for children to use and apply their calculation skills in solving real problems and investigating
